WTTV CBS4 News Flies High in May Ratings

For daytime local news, primetime and late night, more viewers are turning to Indiana’s CBS4 (WTTV-TV).

The station continues to have the top newscast at noon and for the 3rd straight sweep, CBS4 continues its streak of having the market’s top prime lineup.

The weekday prime average stands high at a 2.7 A25-54 rating, compared to WXIN’s 2.1, WTHR’s 1.6, and WRTV’s 1.5. CBS4 midday news is the market’s #1 daytime newscast. While WTHR’s noon newscast slipped 43% year-over-year, WTTV grew 20% and now doubles WTHR’s performance in the time period.

During the recently completed Nielsen May sweeps period, CBS4 ratings at 5pm and 6pm beat WISH-TV 8 and WRTV 6 combined in adults 25-54. CBS4 News at 11pm enjoyed tremendous growth, placing only 1 tenth of a rating point behind WTHR 13.

“CBS4 News at Noon has maintained its spot as the top choice for daytime news with Frank Mickens, Angela Brauer and Meteorologist Star Derry delivering news and weather to Central Indiana in a non-traditional way,” commented Kerri Cavanaugh, VP of News. “Viewers are taking notice of our facts before fluff approach and we’re seeing that change in the ratings.”

“Debby Knox, Bob Donaldson and Chief Meteorologist Chris Wright are the Hometown team in Central Indiana,” commented Jamie Aitken, CBS4 General Manager. “Our viewers see the difference in our newscasts and we’re thrilled that they are making CBS4 their very own throughout the entire day.”
