FOX 61 has announced that Maggie Slysz will be returning to the station as the traffic reporter for FOX61 Morning News, weekdays from 4am-10am.
Slysz will report to Liz Grey Godbout, VP News/News Director.
Slysz returns to FOX61 on July 9 from the CT Lottery where she held a position in social media and digital marketing, strategizing and managing content across all social platforms.
“Maggie is a great asset to the Morning News team and her digital skill set will connect us even more to our viewers. She is knowledgeable and a Connecticut native, and we’re thrilled to have Maggie back on the FOX61 team, “said Grey Godbout.
Slysz first joined FOX 61 in 2013 and worked on special projects including hosting Northeast Living, and the station’s Holiday Wishes specials. She also filled in as a traffic reporter. In 2014 she moved to social media reporting and later that year was promoted to full time morning news anchor and reporter, a position she held through 2016.
Slysz has also worked as a newspaper reporter for The Bristol Press and the New Britain Herald, where she was named ‘Best Local Newscaster’ in the paper’s ‘Best of 2015’ awards, as voted by readers. Slysz, with her Polish background, spearheaded the launch of the paper’s Polish language section and covered local community stories entirely in the Polish language. In 2015, she was awarded the title of Little Poland Ambassador by the Polonia Business Association for her efforts and contributions to the Polish-American community in Connecticut.
“I’m eager to return to the FOX 61 newsroom and reunite with the talented individuals who work together to bring the most-awarded news programming to Connecticut!” said Slysz.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Slysz is a Central Connecticut State University graduate.
