Dan McGolpin, Controller of BBC Programming and Daytime, has announced five varied factual commissions to be broadcast on BBC One daytime from this autumn.
One Day That Changed My Life, narrated by Jo Joyner, will capture emotional and dramatic days in people’s real lives. Five episodes stripped across the week – with up to four stories per episode – will follow life-changing events including a significant job interview, a pregnancy test, a wedding proposal and even a DNA test.
Operation NHS Fraud will go behind the frontline in the NHS to the hidden world of the counter fraud investigators. It’s their job to catch and prosecute the cheats, liars and fraudsters who try to rip-off the NHS – from the inside. With exclusive access to the investigators of the NHS Counter Fraud Authority, the series will follow their cases from tip-off to conviction.
In Home Front Heroes, to be stripped across the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday 2018, the work of the hundreds of thousands of ordinary men and women who did their bit to help Britain win the war will be commemorated. Five famous faces including Sue Johnston, Larry Lamb, Radzi Chinyanganya, Tanni Grey-Thompson and Helen Lederer will relive the wartime experiences of a close family member.
In Payback Time For Frontline Crime the remarkable bravery and dedication of police officers, paramedics and firefighters who are attacked in the line of duty and return to work will be documented. The series will show the terrifying moments that changed the lives of these public service champions and follow the police as they track down and lock up the criminals responsible.
Finally, in Make Me A Dealer, presented by Paul Martin, wannabe antique and collectible dealers will be given the chance to learn the tricks of the trade. In each show two amateur enthusiasts compete against each other to buy anything they see at auction and sell it for the highest price.
