CTV Montreal Anchor Mutsumi Takahashi Named to the Order of Canada

CTV News has congratulated CTV Montreal anchor Mutsumi Takahashi on being named a Member of the Order of Canada for her contributions to Quebec’s broadcasting industry and for her support of various charitable causes.

The Order of Canada is Canada’s highest civilian honour, recognising outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. Takahashi will be presented with her Order of Canada insignia in a ceremony at a later date at Ottawa’s Rideau Hall.

“On behalf of everyone at CTV News, it is my privilege to congratulate Mutsumi on this significant and well-deserved honour,” said Wendy Freeman, President, CTV News. “A trusted voice for Montréalers for more than 35 years, she has dedicated her career to connecting with viewers in the community.”

“As I read through the list of people who have been named to the Order of Canada, I am truly proud to be included among them. Mine is the immigrant story, brought to this country by my parents to start a new life,” said Takahashi. “Canada has been very good to me, and I can think of no greater honour than to be named to the Order, especially today, on the eve of the country’s birthday celebrations.”

“A true expert in her field, Mutsumi’s skill and dedication to broadcasting has strengthened the position of CTV Montreal as the top-rated English-language newscast in Québec,” said Jed Kahane, News Director, CTV Montreal. “We at CTV Montreal are extremely proud of Mutsumi’s achievements, and we thank her for her outstanding work in broadcast journalism as well as her longstanding commitment to the Montréal community.”

Takahashi joined CTV Montreal in 1982 and has since been honoured with numerous accolades, including the 2017 RTDNA Lifetime Achievement Award and a member statement in the Quebec National Assembly. She is the current Honorary Chair of The Campaign for Concordia and Honorary Patron for the West Island Palliative Care Residence. She has also previously co-chaired the Best Care for Life Campaign of the MUHC alongside Montreal Canadiens great Jean Beliveau, and sat on McGill’s Beatty Memorial Fund Committee.
