Estefany Mendez, Joe Perry and Jeremiah Ysip from Noticias Univision 14 Área de la Bahía have won the San Francisco Press Club 2018 Greater Bay Area Journalism Award.
The award honours outstanding work of Bay Area print, TV, radio and digital media journalists, graphic designers and photographers, as well as the work of documentary filmmakers.
Univision Bay Area’s special piece “Son de Lucha,” a feature story about the legendary band “La Santa Cecilia” and their fight for immigrant rights and support for Dreamers, will be honoured during the 2018 Greater Bay Area Journalism Award ceremony on Thursday, November 15 in Burlingame, California.
“I am pleased that the work of the talented storytellers in our Univision Bay Area newsroom is recognised by this prestigious organisation,” said Carolina Nuñez, vice president and regional news director of Univision. “‘Son de Lucha’ highlights the music and the inspiring story of the iconic Latin alternative band La Santa Cecilia, stressing the contribution of immigrants to this country.”
