WTKR News 3 and WGNT 27, Tribune Broadcasting’s CBS and CW affiliates in Norfolk, announced that News 3 newscasts moved into the #1 position at 8am, continued to dominate at Noon and 7pm and won the 11pm local news ratings contest again this November.
“It’s wonderful to see our content resonating with the Hampton Roads community,” says WTKR and WGNT General Manager Stephen Hayes. “The News 3 Team has a lot to be thankful for this Holiday Season,” Hayes added.
The success doesn’t end there. WTKR News 3 moved into second place in the mornings. With combined ratings from WTKR’s morning news simulcast on its’ sister station, WGNT, WTKR took over second place from 4:30am-7am. All News 3 newscasts on WGNT experienced an increase in ratings this November.
Earlier this month, WTKR News 3 also announced the hiring of a familiar face to head up news operations. Eric Olsen rejoins the Tribune Broadcasting group as News Director from WCTI/WYDO in New Bern, NC. Previously, Olsen was part of the Tribune family at WGHP in Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point, NC.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to rejoin Tribune. I look forward to getting to know the staff at WTKR/WGNT, and just as importantly the viewers we have the privilege to serve,” Olsen said.
