British Radio Presenter Gavin Ford Murdered in Lebanon

British radio presenter, Gavin Ford has been found dead at his home in Beit Mery, near to the capital Beirut.

According to local newspaper reports, Ford was found in his bedroom on Tuesday covered in blood, with local police confirming that he was murdered.

An-Nahar reported that Ford’s car had been stolen at around the time of his murder.

The paper went on to say, quoting an un-named law enforcement official, that Ford had been found strangled, with his arms bound.

Ford was a popular presenter on the English-language Radio One station, where he had worked for 20 years. The alarm was raised by his colleagues at the station when he failed to turn up for his show, and calls and messages to him went without response.

The station, which normally plays pop and current chart music, has been playing sombre classical music since the news broke.

In a statement, the station said; “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear Gavin Ford, a member of our team for many joyful years.”

Chris Rampling, the British ambassador to Lebanon, added; “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the death of Gavin Ford, one of Lebanon’s most popular morning breakfast hosts. The thoughts of all at the embassy are with his family, friends and colleagues at this terribly difficult time.”
