The region’s first Spanish-language morning show “Primera Hora” will also feature daily live integration with Latino Mix 93.5 FM.
Alex Hernández and Diana Pérez, who both currently serve as on-air reporters at Univision Chicago, will co-anchor Chicago’s first-ever Spanish-language morning broadcast, called “Primera Hora” (First Hour).
Set to debut on Monday, January 21st, ‘Primera Hora’ will air from 5-7 a.m. CDT Monday through Friday and will include daily live integrations with Mau Mauricio of Latino Mix 93.5 FM, the first television/radio integration of its kind in the region.
The launch of ‘Primera Hora’ comes on the heels of other ‘firsts’ Univision Chicago has pioneered for the Latino community in the Midwest’s largest market, including the launch of ‘Al Punto Chicago’. ‘Al Punto Chicago’ is the local edition of the top-rated and award-winning public affairs show ‘Al Punto con Jorge Ramos.’
The addition of ‘Primera Hora’ will offer Latino viewers in the Windy City the hyperlocal news, weather, traffic, lifestyle and community related content they expect from Univision Chicago in a brand new, first-to-market format, as well as the latest on entertainment and music through the innovative television/radio integration with sister station Latino Mix 93.5.

As a reporter with nearly two decades of experience, Hernández began his career as a voice over talent before transitioning into on-camera work as a sports anchor at Univision San Antonio. Hernández earned a degree in Business from the University of Texas at San Antonio and joined Univision Chicago as their newest on-air talent in late 2018.
A native of Celaya, Mexico, Univision Chicago Digital anchor Diana Pérez moved to Chicago at the age of six. She learned English by watching the news, which inspired her to earn a bachelor’s degree in communications and sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Pérez joined the Univision Chicago team in 2015 as a weather anchor before eventually transitioning to the Univision Chicago Digital team to become its daily news anchor.
