One of the world’s leading sports promoters, Eddie Hearn, has launched a podcast produced by BBC Radio 5 Live and available on BBC Sounds.
The podcast offers a glimpse behind the scenes of Eddie’s life at the top of world sport, as well as interviews with some of the famous names he meets.
The new podcast, No Passion, No Point, sees Eddie chat to some of the biggest characters from the worlds of sport, entertainment and politics, including Anthony Joshua, KSI and Wayne Rooney. He’ll hear about their careers and the dedication, hard work and hustle you need to get to the top.
The podcast is a unique insight into Hearn’s world, recorded on the fly wherever his work takes him – from the gym to the car, the office and even Madison Square Garden. He talks to successful people who all share his love of boxing and embody his mantra: no passion, no point.
The first three episodes of No Passion, No Point are available on BBC Sounds from today, Wednesday 29 May, and a further seven episodes will be released weekly.
The opening episodes feature world heavyweight champion boxer Anthony Joshua in the build-up to his title fight against Andy Ruiz Jr in New York on Saturday 1 June, Hearn’s first major event in the United States. Eddie speaks exclusively to Joshua ahead of this crucial moment for them both.
He also meets YouTuber and boxer KSI, who was part of the ‘the largest event in YouTube history’ in August 2018 when he faced Logan Paul in the biggest white-collar boxing match ever staged. And, in Washington DC, Eddie is joined by former England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, who holds the record for most goals scored for both his club and country.
The series will also feature the likes of Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, female boxer Katie Taylor and champion cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins.
Eddie Hearn says: “I’m so excited to be working with 5 Live and BBC Studios on my first podcast. The idea evolved from a boxing podcast to one that encompasses not just the sport I love but also business, life and the drive to succeed. Passion is at the heart of what I do and I can’t wait to share the stories of this brilliant pool of talent who feel the same way.”
Jonathan Wall, controller of BBC Radio 5 Live, says: “Eddie Hearn is one of the biggest characters in sport and this podcast is going to offer a fascinating and unique insight into the world in which he works. We already have a string of hugely successful 5 Live podcasts, from That Peter Crouch Podcast and Brexitcast to 5 Live Boxing and true crime series Paradise, and I’m sure No Passion, No Point will be a huge hit.”
No Passion, No Point is made by BBC Studios TalentWorks in partnership with BBC Studios Productions for BBC Radio 5 Live. Listen now on BBC Sounds.
