Ken Bruce is to take his PopMaster pop quiz on the road this summer, presenting his Radio 2 show from listeners’ workplaces.
BBC Radio 2 presenter Ken Bruce has announced that listeners will have the chance for his show to be broadcast live from their workplace as he takes the UK’s best loved pop quiz PopMaster around the UK for the first time this summer.
Ken, who has a weekly audience of 8.81m (RAJAR Q1 2019), will broadcast his whole show live between 9.30am – midday from four workplaces in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales over four days, starting on Monday 29 July in Northern Ireland.
The workplace will Stop For PopMaster between 10.30-10.45am with two callers taking part and workers watching. Whether Ken’s based next to a desk, at the end of a supermarket till or in a warehouse, the team must stop for PopMaster!
Listeners can nominate their workplace whether it’s an office, shop, factory or showroom, and Ken could bring along some famous friends from the world of music and entertainment.
Ken says: “I’m only allowed out of Wogan House for my yearly pilgrimage to Eurovision, so when it was suggested I take PopMaster around the UK to find out if people really do stop for PopMaster, I jumped at the chance to free myself from the London shackles and escape!”
Lewis Carnie, Head of Radio 2 says: “Ken Bruce is a broadcasting phenomenon who has hosted the mid-morning show on Radio 2 since 1985, and now reaches a weekly audience of 8.81 million listeners. As Ken is one of the UK’s most popular presenters, I’m delighted that the PopMaster himself will get to meet many of his listeners around the country.”
PopMaster is the daily pop quiz where two listeners each answer questions about pop music from the past six decades. The player who scores the highest points wins a portable Bluetooth speaker and goes through to the Three In Ten final, where they have to name three top 75 UK hits from a particular artist and upgrade their prize to a digital radio. The runner-up wins a One Year Out t-shirt.
