Julissa Bonafante has been promoted by Univision to the role of vice president of content publicity with immediate effect.
Julissa Bonfante, who has been serving as director of corporate communications since 2016, will continue to be based in Miami and will report to Rosemary Mercedes, executive vice president and chief communications officer of Univision.
In her new role, Bonfante will be responsible for developing, directing and managing all publicity efforts for Univision’s leading multi-platform content and top-ranked tentpole events. She will work closely with network executives, show producers and talent relations to develop and execute comprehensive communications campaigns that help drive awareness and brand positioning in the marketplace.
“Julissa is a passionate and committed leader with a deep understanding of the Univision brand, including our content and digital narrative, as well as our broader business goals,” said Mercedes. “She has been instrumental in increasing awareness of our digital portfolio and I’m confident that she will bring that same creativity and tenacity to the publicity efforts for our leading multiplatform content.”
Since joining Univision in 2016, Bonfante has played in integral role in spearheading communications efforts around Univision’s digital portfolio. She helped create and expand brand awareness of Univision.com, Univision’s apps as well as the Univision Creator Network and the company’s success on Facebook Watch. Most recently, she led the charge on developing and executing strategies around Univision’s Uforia Audio Network rebrand including a successful Uforia, Home of Latin Music Experience at South by Southwest (SXSW) earlier this year headlined by Latin Grammy-Award winning artist J Balvin.
Prior to Univision, Bonfante was the senior account director at RockOrange where she was responsible for leading strategic communications for local and national brands. She also served as VP, Director of Group Communications at BBVA USA, a bank holding company headquartered in Houston, Texas. Bonfante has more than 15 years of experience working in various roles across digital, corporate communications, media relations, executive positioning and brand management. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and Psychology and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Fordham University.
