Fox News Tops All Networks for First Impeachment Hearings

Fox News Channel’s coverage of the first open impeachment hearings in the House of Representatives outpaced all broadcast and cable news networks in total viewers.

Led by FNC’s all-star political team featuring Special Report’s Bret Baier, The Story’s Martha MacCallum, Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace, The Daily Briefing’s Dana Perino, The Five’s Juan Williams alongside America’s Newsroom co-anchors Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith, FNC averaged 2.9 million total viewers and 444,000 in the 25-54 demographic on November 13th from 10AM-4PM/ET.

FNC was up across the board versus same time last year – up 99 percent in total viewers and up 66 percent in the demographic. Meanwhile, MSNBC averaged 2.7 million viewers and 364,000 in the demo and CNN averaged just 1.8 million viewers and 427,000 viewers in the demo. FNC also had a double-digit advantage over all three broadcast networks in total viewers– a 44 percent advantage over ABC (2,008,000 in P2+), a 47 percent over CBS (1,970,000 in P2+) and a 73 percent advantage over NBC (1,676,000 in P2+).

FNC also came in second only behind ABC (496,000) in the 25-54 demo, outpacing CBS (384,000), NBC (440,000), CNN (427,000) and MSNBC (364,000) in the news demo.

In comparison to previous hearings, FNC delivered 3 million total viewers for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony on July 24, 2019 and 2.8 million total viewers for special coverage of the release of the Mueller report on April 18th, 2019 from 9:30AM-1PM/ET while FNC’s special coverage of former FBI director James Comey’s testimony on June 8th, 2017 averaged 3.1 million total viewers.

Additionally, in prime-time, FNC was the most-watched cable news network from 8-11PM/ET with nearly 4 million viewers and 635,000 viewers in the 25-54 younger demo, sweeping CNN and MSNBC across both categories. Hannity was the number one rated show in all of cable news last night with 4.4 million total viewers and 711,000 A25-54 while Tucker Carlson Tonight ranked second with 3,966,000 total viewers (648,000 A25-54).

According to Adobe Analytics, Fox News Digital (Web + Mobile App) outperformed both the Special Counsel Robert Mueller and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh hearing days in terms of Unique Devices, and delivered a 16 percent increase over the 2019 to date average.

Additionally, the Fox New Go Authenticated Live Stream on November 13th had its highest day of Media Initiates and Unique Devices since Midterm Election post-day coverage (11/7/18). In the news competitive set, Fox News remained the number one most engaged news brand on social media on 11/13/19 (Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram combined).

Additionally, FNC’s concurrent streams of the first hearings peaked at close to 100K concurrent livestreams.
