Netflix Introduces Billing in Egyptian Pounds

Netflix

Netflix is continuing its roll out of billing in local and national currencies, with the launch of local billing for its members in Egypt, using Egyptian Pounds.

As of 21st January 2020 at 8 pm EEST, members in Egypt will be billed in Egyptian Pounds (EGP) with the adjustment to come into effect from members’ next billing cycle.

The adjustment represents a change of currency only, with pricing for all three packages remaining consistent with previous prices in USD.

> Basic plan: 120 EGP
> Standard plan: 165 EGP
> Premium plan: 200 EGP

The shift to billing in Egyptian Pounds is Netflix’s latest effort to localise its offering for the Egyptian market and comes ahead of two Egyptian Netflix Originals, Paranormal and Abla Fahita, scheduled for international release later this year.

Egypt joins other markets in the region including the United Arab Emirates (AED) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (SAR), which gives members the ability to pay with local currency.

Netflix said in a statement that members in Egypt will be notified of the currency change by email and are able to review plan options and account details by visiting Account or seek further information from the Netflix Help Centre.
