Fox News to Air Amy Klobuchar Town Hall

Fox News Channel

Fox News will host a town hall with 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) on Thursday, February 27th in Raleigh, NC.

Co-moderated by FNC’s chief political anchor and anchor of Special Report (weekdays, 6-7PM/ET) Bret Baier and The Story’s (weekdays 7-8PM/ET) Martha MacCallum, FNC’s second town hall with Sen. Klobuchar will take place from 6:30-7:30PM/ET and focus on key issues of the 2020 presidential election. Additionally, abbreviated versions of Baier’s Special Report will air from 6-6:30PM/ET and MacCallum’s The Story will run from 7:30-8PM/ET.

In making the announcement, Wallace said, “As Super Tuesday quickly approaches, we are looking forward to hosting Sen. Klobuchar for a second FOX News Channel town hall as she makes her case for becoming the Democratic presidential nominee to the largest cable news audience in the country. We are confident we will provide our millions of viewers with an informative and thoughtful conversation.”

This marks the eighth town hall event of the current election season hosted by FNC and the second with Sen. Klobuchar. In May 2019, Baier and MacCallum co-hosted Sen. Klobuchar for her first FNC town hall in Milwaukee, WI, which topped cable news competition in the timeslot for that evening and outpaced CNN’s previous town hall with her.

Most recently, FNC presented a town hall with 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg on January 26th in Des Moines, IA, moderated by FOX News Sunday’s Chris Wallace. FNC’s town hall with 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in April 2019 remains the highest-rated town hall of any candidate this cycle in total viewership, with nearly 2.6 million viewers.

Baier and MacCallum’s roles have been instrumental throughout the network’s election coverage, including moderating debates, town halls and co-anchoring during major political events, such as the recent 2020 New Hampshire primary, State of the Union address and Iowa caucuses. Ratings during their coverage of all major 2020 political events have topped all cable news networks in both total viewers and the 25-54 demo, according to Nielsen Media Research.
