The Weather Channel has confirmed that Meteorologist Liana Brackett will be the weekend host for Quibi’s new show, ‘Weather Today’.
‘Weather Today’ will join Quibi’s Daily Essentials category of programming, launching on April 6th. Quibi’s Daily Essentials is a curated slate of news, entertainment, and inspirational programming, giving viewers everything they need to know — and why it matters.
Liana Brackett moves to Quibi’s ‘Weather Today’ from her role as on-camera meteorologist for ‘WEEKEND RECHARGE’ for the network. Prior to joining The Weather Channel, she worked for Fox 12 Oregon in Portland, Oregon where she served as a weeknight meteorologist.
‘Weather Today’ is a new show from The Weather Channel television network that will debut on Quibi, the mobile-first short form video platform on April 6. It will be a three-to-five minute show airing seven days a week that features the most important weather news stories of the day as well as a national forecast. Brackett joins the previously announced weekday anchor, Jordan Steele.
“We’re looking forward to leveraging The Weather Channel’s expertise by providing the latest weather news every day to Quibi viewers around the country. We’re thrilled to have Liana as the on-air expert for our weekend program and know she will do a phenomenal job as we launch this show on this exciting new platform,” said Tom O’Brien, president of The Weather Channel television network.
“We’re excited for Liana’s transition to her new role for ‘Weather Today’ on Quibi,” said Nora Zimmett, chief content officer and EVP for The Weather Channel television network. “Liana has been an incredible part of our weather team as an on-camera meteorologist and we know she will shine in her new position.”
