Univision News and The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) will host a virtual town hall with US Senators to discuss the economic crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic in Latino and minority communities.
Hispanic Americans are significantly more likely to have experienced pay cuts and job losses stemming from the pandemic compared to other demographic groups, and the CDC has reported that current data suggest a disproportionate burden of illness and death among racial and ethnic minority groups.
Univision News Anchor Jorge Ramos will moderate the town hall with event co-hosts Domingo Garcia, LULAC National President and Sindy Benavides, LULAC CEO.
They will be joined by distinguished guest Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Kamala Harris (D-CA), Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Most panelists represent states with large minority populations that have been hit hard by the pandemic.
The town hall will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, 2020, from 1pm ET, in English with simultaneous Spanish-language translation.
