Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic across Europe, broadcasting will come from BBC Sport’s award-winning studio facility at Media City, Salford and UK-based stadiums with Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan, Eilidh Barbour and Mark Chapman all leading on the BBC’s Euros presentations.
Representing the competing home nations in the studio are former England internationals Alan Shearer, Rio Ferdinand, Alex Scott and Micah Richards. Ashely Williams, who captained Wales to the semi-finals in 2016, joins former Wales player and manager Mark Hughes. James McFadden, Shelley Kerr and Charlie Adam will represent Scotland across our coverage.
Joining the team in the studio are three European Championship winners, former France striker Thierry Henry, Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas and prolific German goal-scorer, Jurgen Klinsmann.
Reporting on the England camp throughout the tournament is Kelly Somers. Eilidh Barbour will be with the Scotland team and Carl Roberts with Wales.
On TV commentary duties there’s Guy Mowbray, Steve Wilson, Robyn Cowen, Steve Bower, Jonathan Pearce, Vicki Sparks, Rob McLean and Mark Scott. Joining them on co-comms are Dion Dublin and Karen Carney and covering the England games are former internationals Jermaine Jenas, Martin Keown and Danny Murphy. Robbie Savage will offer insight on Wales and Scotland are covered by James McFadden.
A Euro 2020 preview show on Wednesday 9 June will kick off a month-long schedule of European football action, closely followed by the opening game of the tournament between Turkey and Italy in Rome on Friday 11 June from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer – the first of 25 games live on the BBC.
The BBC will also have first and second pick of the games at the Round of 16 and Quarter-Final stages meaning if home nations progress, the BBC will be the only place to watch them.
Highlights programmes and selected match replays will be available most evenings on BBC One and BBC iPlayer for those that missed the action or want to relive it all over again.
All BBC games will be broadcast on BBC One or BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.
Fans can experience the Euros in superb Ultra HD quality live on BBC iPlayer, as part of a trial from the BBC. Viewers with compatible TVs and a high-speed internet connection will be able to watch 22 of the BBC’s games in Ultra-High Definition and High Dynamic Range, including the first games in the competition for Wales, England and Scotland.
As well as the live action, there’ll be plenty of additional programming to bring the tales off the pitch. Former England striker and podcasting legend Peter Crouch will be back stronger this summer alongside Maya Jama and Alex Horne and The Horne Section as Crouchy’s Year Late Euros: Live is confirmed for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Over ten episodes, starting on Friday 11 June, Peter, Maya and Alex will present their unique take on all the action and will be following England, Scotland and Wales throughout the tournament. The series will feature match reviews and predictions plus a whole host of entertainment features with big name celebrity guests, must-see moments and live music courtesy of house band Alex Horne and The Horne Section. All this plus Crouchy will be catching up with all the biggest footballing stars from the UK’s home nations.
Starting on June 1, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards return for a Euros-themed Match of the Day: Top 10. Ten episodes of the popular series will be recorded for BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer, covering topics such as the top 10 Euros goals, teams, players and moments.
Dropping on BBC iPlayer on Saturday 29 May, Cristiano Ronaldo: Impossible To Ignore explores how one of the game’s greatest ever players has overcome adversity to reach unparalleled heights. How has the boy from Madeira managed to change the face of football, the way the game is played and the business of how fans connect with footballers? Has he redefined what it means to be an icon in the 21st Century? And at 36, will he now rest on this legacy?
BBC Three will follow UK musicians Krept and Konan as they create a new England football anthem for the Euros, with the help of England players and manager Gareth Southgate in new exclusive documentary Krept and Konan: We Are England. In making a new England football anthem, Krept and Konan will be setting out to explore what Englishness actually means in 2021. It’s never been a simple question for those of non-white British heritage, but it’s a question they need to tackle if they are going to create an authentic track to celebrate the national football team. Follow Krept and Konan as they get to know the England Squad, meeting players including Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings and West Ham’s Declan Rice.
BBC Sport News will be covering the progress of the three home nations in their news coverage with dedicated teams reporting across all platforms throughout the tournament, from BBC Breakfast to BBC News at Ten, and to their flagship sports news programme Sportsday on the BBC News channel. As well as serving audiences around the UK, they will also be telling the story of the tournament to football fans across the globe via the World Service and BBC World News. Away from the pitch, teams will report on how fans – both those hoping to get to matches at Wembley and Hampden Park and those watching on TV closer to home around the UK – embrace the biggest sporting event of the summer on home shores.
