Fox News host Sean Hannity could be asked to co-operate with the congressional select committee on the January 6th riot regarding his text messages with Mark Meadows.
It was revealed by the committee in previous hearings that Sean Hannity had been in communication with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows via text messages as the riot at the Capitol was taking place.
According to the messages that were revealed by the committee, Hannity was trying to talk Meadows into getting President Trump to intervene to stop the rioting.
A message that has been disclosed from Hannity to Meadows, said; “Can he make a statement?… Ask people to leave the Capitol?”
According to a report by Axios, it was not clear weather the committee would request that Hannity appeared in front of them, or whether they sought documents of some description.
Hannity wasn’t the only Fox News presenter in contact with Meadows during the time of the riots however. It has already been revealed by the committee that Laura Ingraham and Brian Kilmeade were also urging Meadows to get the former President to stop the riots – again via text messages.
One of the messages from Ingraham, disclosed by Rep. Liz Cheney, said; “The president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. … He is destroying his legacy.”
CNN quickly reacted, with Brian Stelter, the network’s media editor, asking; “The big question that a lot of people are going to want to know, including Sean Hannity’s viewers, is what is Sean Hannity hiding?”
