A radio host for the RTHK Putonghua Channel in Hong Kong has tested positive for Covid-19, prompting a deep clean of the studio facilities.
In a statement, the broadcaster said; “RTHK was informed by a programme host of Putonghua Channel on 7th January that she was preliminarily tested positive for Covid-19.
“The programme host, who is a service provider of RTHK, hosted her programme at RTHK Broadcasting House on 4 and 5 January, and last hosted her programme in the morning of 6th January.
“She entered the Putonghua Channel Studio and the Putonghua Channel office in Broadcasting House, and wore a mask during her work.
“For the sake of prudence, RTHK made prompt arrangements to conduct thorough cleaning and sterilisation at the entire Broadcasting House in accordance with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP)’s advice, and arranged three colleagues who had lunch with the host on 6 January to undergo COVID-19 testing.
“RTHK notified the CHP about the case, and will assist with the tracing of other possible close contacts.
“During the period, the broadcast services will be maintained. Radio services of one channel in Chinese and one in English will be provided.
“While TV House is located separately from Broadcasting House, normal TV service will be maintained.”
