ABC News’ Nightline ranked top in Adults 25-54 (228,000) and Adults 18-49 (169,000) for the week of Jan. 3, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.
The show beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” In addition, Nightline beat NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Total Viewers.
Nightline posted double-digit increases from the previous week in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+20% – 833,000 vs. 697,000), Adults 25-54 (+43% – 228,000 vs. 160,000) and Adults 18-49 (+36% – 169,000 vs. 1,000).
The ABC program hit season highs in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 with its strongest performances since July — since weeks of 7/5/21 and 7/19/21, respectively.
Last week Nightline aired special coverage of the one-year anniversary of the attack on the Capitol, featuring an interview with the mother of the so-called “QAnon Shaman” and lawmakers who were in the Capitol when the insurrection took place.
The program also featured ABC News anchor David Muir’s interview with three police officers who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6 and a family that has been torn apart due to the events of that day. Other stories reported on the surge in omicron cases across the country and Prince Andrew’s connection to Ghislaine Maxwell.
