BBC Studios has appointed Rose Hughes as its new Senior Vice President, Global Format Sales.
Rosie Hughes will be responsible for the sales strategy of unscripted and scripted formats. She will lead the Global Format Sales team. She will report to Jacob de Boer, EVP Global Entertainment. Before, she held the role of Senior Sales Executive, Formats Licensing, Nordics and Benelux.
Hughes brings 15 years of experience in TV distribution. She has worked across a range of genres. She joins from Seven One Studios where she is now VP of Sales. Here, she collaborates with award-winning producers including Snowman (Married at First Sight) and CPL (A League of Their Own).
She secured key partnerships in the growth of Stranded on Honeymoon Island. This included the second international commission of the format with Seven Networks Australia. She also achieved a prestigious BBC One commission.
She negotiated the revival of Married at First Sight New Zealand after a four-year hiatus. She also oversaw a CBS pilot pick up of the scripted German format Einstein. Hughes also created innovative brand enhancement deals. These include the Married at First Sight AVOD and FAST partnership with Nine Australia. This partnership included over 900 hours of the brand.
Prior to Seven One she was VP of Finished Programmes, Formats, Co-Productions and Pre-Buys at Keshet International. Here she led the strategy and relationships of format and tape sales across Digital, Scandinavia, the UK, US and Canada.
At Keshet International, Rosie Hughes led the first Scandinavian commissions of Singletown securing double simultaneous commissions in Denmark and Norway. She negotiated notable scripted remakes. These include SVT Sweden’s remake of Stockholm, and NPO commissioned Yellow Peppers, which was remade for the BBC as The A Word.
Additionally, she brokered Amazon’s first Hebrew global acquisition, The Baker and The Beauty. She also facilitated the Disney financing pre-buy of Ralph and Katie, a spin-off of The A Word.

BBC Studios’ annual flagship content and customer event, Showcase, takes place on 24th and 25th February 2025. Key formats being presented at the event include The Honesty Box, from Mettlemouse Entertainment and GroupM Motion Entertainment, Blackshore from River Pictures and Treasure Entertainment, and Kevin & Co Productions’ scripted comedy Homebound 3.0.
