Nine has announced new senior roles in its TV News & Current Affairs division. This includes a National News Director, a Sydney News Director, and a US Bureau Chief.
Fiona Dear, Nine’s Director of TV News & Current Affairs, shared that Hugh Nailon has been promoted to National TV News Director. He will keep his position as Melbourne TV News Director, overseeing the State TV News Directors and reporting to Dear.
Michael Best is the new TV News Director in Sydney. With 20 years of experience, he will manage the largest TV newsroom at Nine. Best previously worked with Nine as Europe Correspondent in London. He also served as Senior Reporter in Brisbane.
Additionally, he was News Director in Perth for over three years. Since leaving Nine in 2022, he has taken on senior roles in communications and leadership. He worked at Tattarang, Minderoo, and Gladstone Ports Corporation.
Kendall Bora has been appointed as US Bureau Chief. She is currently the Executive Producer of the Today Show. She will move to Los Angeles to lead Nine’s US coverage. This move comes during an important time for global news.
Fiona Dear commented that these appointments highlight the talent within Nine’s News & Current Affairs team. She praised Hugh as a respected leader and expressed excitement about formalising his new role.
