ABC News will celebrate Black History Month throughout February with special coverage across all its programs.
On “Good Morning America,” viewers will see creators using social media to raise awareness about Black history and educate audiences. Black-owned businesses that have faced recent natural disasters will receive surprise support to aid their recovery.
In a health segment titled “It’s Time for a Checkup!,” three doctors will offer valuable tips for a healthy lifestyle. The month will conclude with a celebration of soul line dancing. The event will feature a live dance-off that honours the history and significance of this art.
“GMA3: What You Need to Know” will begin the month with a discussion. The discussion will focus on the significance of a Black actor leading in “Captain America: Brave New World.” The show is counting down to the new film in the Marvel series. Throughout February, “GMA3” will host special guests and chefs to mark the occasion.
“World News Tonight with David Muir,” “Nightline,” and “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” will highlight Black History Month during February. “The View” and ABC News Radio will also feature it prominently.
In the “Tamron Hall” show, supermodel Chanel Iman will participate in the “Up-and-Coming Designer” series. Madisin Rian is the first Black face of Giorgio Armani Beauty. Designer Nina Parker will also be part of the series. This platform allows young designers to showcase their work and receive mentorship from a surprise fashion icon. Around Valentine’s Day, the show will feature performances from Jagged Edge and Heather Headley.
ABC News Live is available on Disney+, Hulu, and other platforms. “Prime with Linsey Davis” will focus on individuals preserving Black history. It will also highlight those making a cultural impact. This includes the creator of the Instagram page “The Shade Room.”
The streaming service will also cover a group working to train the next generation of Black teachers. It will explore Liberia’s roots connected to the U.S., and follow a family’s fight to keep ancestral land from being taken through eminent domain.
ABC News Digital will publish an article on the risks of legal action surrounding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies. They will also report on the rise of community history lessons. This response comes as churches, libraries, and community centres nationwide unite to teach and learn about history independently.
