The Kansas City Royals have partnered with Gray Media. They will offer fans free access to 10 regular season games. These games will be simulcast with FanDuel Sports Network, the team’s rights partner.
These games will be available on KCTV5 (CBS), KSMO (MyNetwork), or both on Sundays throughout the season, with specific games to be announced later.
This partnership will significantly increase the number of households able to watch the Royals, reaching nearly 7 million viewers. All 10 games will air on KSMO, and at least 6 will also be shown on KCTV5. Gray stations cover much of the Royals’ viewing area, including parts of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Arkansas.
Royals President of Business Operations Brooks Sherman stated that sharing the games and showcasing their athletes is a top priority. He emphasized that this agreement allows fans to choose how they want to watch, whether through cable, streaming, or local TV. He expressed excitement about the partnership with Gray Media, expecting their expertise to benefit everyone involved.
Curtis Miles, Vice President and General Manager of KCTV5 and KSMO, shared excitement about bringing the Royals back to free television. He noted Gray Media’s commitment to live sports and pride in delivering what viewers want.
Alongside the regular broadcasts, the Royals and Gray will collaborate on additional programming to connect fans more closely with the team. This content may include features on players, coaches, and alumni, enhancing ways for fans to engage beyond the games.
Further details on the games and extra programming will be announced before Opening Day, set for March 27th against the Guardians.
