This new base will support CNN’s existing Middle Eastern initiatives. These initiatives include the main headquarters in Abu Dhabi, home to Connect the World with Becky Anderson. Additionally, there is CNN Arabic in Dubai and various bureaus across the region.

The new facility in Media City Qatar is a key area for global media and tech firms. It promotes innovation. This facility will start operations in the latter half of 2025. It will focus on creating multi-platform content on trending global stories. A team of CNN creators will share content on digital and social media. They will also produce an innovative weekly show for CNN International.

This expansion will strengthen CNN’s resources in the Gulf and the Middle East. This region is crucial to international news. It covers topics like politics, breaking news, business, technology, sport, culture, and travel. Additionally, CNN plans to offer journalism and production training to students and young professionals in Qatar.

CNN is dedicated to comprehensive coverage of the Middle East. Mike McCarthy is the Executive Vice President & Managing Editor of CNN Worldwide. He noted that this new Qatar operation enhances CNN’s ability to report from the region. It also enables a broader range of storytelling. This includes the introduction of a new weekly show.
