PIX11 Wins NYS AP News Series Award

New York's PIX11

PIX11 has won a First Place New York State Associated Press Association Award in the category of News Series for PIX11’s series “Embedded.”

In the seven-part series, photojournalist Keith Lopez spent seven months embedded in Long Island’s Nassau County Police Department with the newest recruits, for a never-before-seen perspective of the famed, rigorous academy, that is used as an example by departments across the country.

The Associated Press is a nonprofit news cooperative representing 1,400 newspapers and 5,000 broadcast stations in the United States.

The NYS AP Association Awards honour excellence in the media. Winners of the organisation’s contest were announced on Saturday during the state AP’s annual awards dinner in Saratoga Springs.

Earlier this year, PIX11’s “Embedded” was honored with a FOLIO Award from the Fair Media Council of Long Island.
